Perhaps Had a " Ghost " Experience the Last 6 weeks on a Job ? You tell me
by flipper ini've never been one to believe in " ghosts " .
i'm open to the possibility that there may exist something in the afterlife or spirit world- i just don't know what it is.
having been out of the witnesses over 6 years i had my fill of being a jehovah's witness and being told how " scared " i should be of satan or the demons.

Why would the Followers of Jesus be hated?
by wannabe inwhy would the followers of jesus be hated?.
should we find it strange, that as followers of jesus, we will be hated to the extreme jesus here foretold in these following words?
to the point of being arrested, persecuted, and killed?.

I like the people in my Kingdom Hall!
by lavozsa inthis may sound like a funny title, but it is actually true.
just to give a brief background on myself, i've been a jw for nearly 12 years now.
i didn't grow up in a jw family, nor is anyone else in my immediate family a jw (except my wife and her family).

Welcome Lovozsa,
"I really do enjoy the friendships of the people at the hall, including the elders. The people in my hall and the elders are very up to date with their thinking and handling of situations, which differs greatly from the people and elders at my in-laws hall. They know I haven't been out in service for over a year and do occassionally invite me to work with them or informally try and give some words of encouragement at informal meetings, but they are never persistent nor over bearing in their attempts."
Are they really your friends? Do you mean they invite you to work with them on projects around their home/community? Or work with them in field service? Just because they are nice/cordial doesn't mean they are your friends. A friend allows you freedom of thought and expression. If they are progressive in their thinking and actions you should be able to express what you are thinking without fear of reprisal.
If you tell them that you are celebrating birthdays I am telling you it will be ON! I wouldn't do that unless you are ready for the consequences.

Is It Wrong To Pretend??
by chron82 inat the current time, my wife and i are just trying to fade away in order to keep family ties on my side.
last night my wife said that she feels bad about being affiliated with the witnesses at all.
i too feel bad about it.... i don't want to be responsible for misleading people.. i told her that in order to keep communication between myself and my family open, i can justify going to meetings.

"I just feel horrible putting her through even more turmoil when she has already gone through so much."
Welcome chron82 - You will find your way. But you should know that you are not responsible for how your mother responds to your decisions. That is another form of slavery that you can do without. The witnesses are masters at treating those who leave badly and then blaming the strained relationship on the other guy. WRONG WRONG WRONG!
I don't think it is healthy to pretend. So don't pretend. Just don't divulge all of your thoughts and intentions. If you choose to go to the meetings for your mother, that's not pretending, it's just going along to keep her company. Like UC said, theocratic strategy!
Hang in there!

Close Encounters of the JW Kind...
by Jim_TX inthis morning (like many other mornings) i went to the local 'stop-n-shop' to get my wife a pint - of milk.
she likes to drink a bit of milk during the day.. anyway, on my way back to the vehicle - as i got in and was reaching for the key to start it up... an elderly lady (well... probably about my age - sheesh!
) with grey hair, approached my car with a handfull of magazines - and said something along the lines of.... 'pardon me sir,...'.

I like the title of this thread Jim.... lol.
Yeah they are (we were) weirdos. I was in the parking lot on my cell and loading bags in my car when this older "brother" approached me with the mags. I was like "here we go" I was sure he'd recognize me and just say hi but he went on with his presentation. Since he didn't recognize me I just acted like I wasn't interested..... lol
Have you ever noticed how utterly ecstatic the witnesses are when they get someone to agree with them on anything?
witness: "hello. it's a beautiful day isn't it?"
householder: "yes it is. I just love the sunshine."
no matter if anything was placed or not, back in the car group you're recounting how they agreed it was sunny out. "They should really become witnesses they understand how sunny it is today."
